CATALAN CUISINE AND CULTURAL INDUSTRIES JOIN FORCES AT THE WORLD'S BIGGEST FAIRS
Catalonia's culinary products are being showcased at Womex; the acclaimed world music expo held every October in Tampere (Finland). Prodeca has partnered with the Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises to showcase Catalan cuisine on a stage with huge potential.
Catalonia had its own stand under the international brand Catalan Arts - Music, which provides greater leverage to the professional activities of those involved, while giving a joint image of the sector. The stand offers a work and exhibition space for professionals in the sector to hold business meetings, meet counterparts from other countries, and show the variety and vitality of the Catalan food scene. A sample of Catalan food products were showcased under the CatalanFood brand, with food tasting for the participating professionals.
The public can taste products from the Protected Geographical Indication Llonganissa de Vic, the PDO Avellanes de Reus, the PDO Oli Terra Alta, and gourmet olives from the Blai Peris estate. This is a fabulous showcase to promote high-quality Catalan food products and introduce them to the international market.
This fair has been taking place since 1994 and brings together 2,400 delegates from around 100 countries. The Regional Ministry of Culture through the ICEC has been attending Womex for many years, following it around numerous European cities such as Seville, Copenhagen, Thessaloniki, Cardiff, Budapest, Santiago de Compostela, Katowice, Gran Canaria, and now Tampere.
